History of MAFOA

The Mid Atlantic Fiero Owner’s Association was first formed in December 1994 thru the efforts of 16 Fiero owners who met at the IRM Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. The owners came from Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania and became the first charter members of the club. Over the years, the Mid Atlantic Fiero Owner’s Association, also known as MAFOA, grew in size from that small group of 16 to well over 100 members in states from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Delaware, New Jersey and beyond. The club is the oldest on the East Coast and one of the oldest in that nation. It is responsible for many achievements involving the Fiero over the years since the the club’s formation in 1994.

The club initially formed a newsletter call Mid Atlantic Pride. This was a small publication that was sent to its membership that covered events that the club was involved in and offered items of interest for its membership. The newsletter changed its name when joining efforts with a sister club from the New England area, the New England Fiero Association. The newsletter then became known as the FieroPride newsletter. This expanded newsletter offered the same information as the original newsletter but in a larger format that was sent to the clubs’ members 4 times a year. In 2014, the two clubs also began publishing a monthly e-news update available to all members.

The club has offered several shows each year for its members to attend. The highlight of the show season for the club is “Fieros at Carlisle” held as part of the Chevrolet/GM Nationals Show at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA. Until 2007, this show was actually part of the Import/Kit-Car Nationals. The club also regularly holds a spring and fall show. The spring show and swap meet rotates locations and the fall show takes place as part of a larger all-car show in Neffsville, PA. All events offer something for everyone and are also open to all members and non-members of the club. Other events that take place throughout the year include cruises, tech sessions and attending other shows with fellow Fiero owners. We are also a member club of the MidWest Fiero Clubs, a non-geographical chapter of the AACA.

The club is constantly making changes and improvements along the way to promote the Fiero. We are always looking for ideas and suggestions in planning events where the Fiero owner can enjoy not only showing but driving their cars. Let’s all join forces in helping to keep the preservation of the Fiero legacy alive and well in the future!
